Blankspace Studio
Every Blankspace piece is drawn in our own studio in the San Francisco Bay Area. Each design starts as a sketch and a cut-paper study, then goes through months of prototypes and sitting trials until it is ready to be made to order: furniture meant to live beautifully and age gracefully.

From a sketch to your room
The sketch
A line on paper: the proportion of the piece, and how it should feel to sit in.
The cut-paper study
The silhouette cut and composed, so the form reads as clearly as a Matisse cut-out.
Prototypes and sitting trials
Frames built, sprung and sat in, adjusted again and again until seat, back and arm agree.
Made to order
Once ready, each piece is built only when it is ordered, to your size and covering.
